Open spaces are also increasingly used for so-called solar parks. The Renewable Energy Law (Erneuerbare-Energien-Gesetz / EEG) allows various locations for open-space photovoltaic installation. In addition to open fields along highways and railroad tracks, the solar parks can also be planned in industrial or commercial parks. Transitional areas are also used for open space installations. But what if the available space is very hilly? Investors need to calculate very precisely if it is worth to invest into costly levelling of the ground.
An intelligent supporting structure that adapts to various elevations is a solution of the problem. Not every system can meet this challenge because they are limited with regards to the possible pitch.
One installation system is particularly suitable for hilly areas: The open space installation system TRIC flex by Wagner & Co Solartechnik GmbH. This open space system is a versatile mounting system with driving elements. The advantage of the design: The PV modules are supported by two purlins that can be strongly tilted horizontally. These purlins are fastened to the vertical support elements with independent fixing plates. This enables the installation on extreme terrain profiles.
Self-drilling screws decrease assembly times
Stainless steel EJOT self-drilling screws are used for fastening. Dipl.-Ing. Tobias Müller, product manager for installation systems at Wagner & Co, explains: "The self-drilling screws can be easily fastened into aluminium structures. Pre-drilling is not necessary - the screws do the job. This way installation times are decreased."
Another positive effect when using the self-drilling screws: The diagonal bracing bands as well as the cable guide plates can be fastened with the same kind of screws. For the installer this is a significant facilitation for handling of installation and fastening tools.
The EJOT stainless steel SAPHIR self-drilling screws of the type JT4-6-5.5x30 have been used for rear ventilated facade for years and they are building authorities approved. For further technical details see the general building authorities approval Z-14.1-537 and the building authorities test certificate P-043609.
