Founded immediately after the reunion, the company EKF did focus the development, production and international distribution of medical analyzers and consumables. Expanding its product portfolio of glucose, lactate and hemoglobin analyzers, the headquarter moved to an industrial area in the North of Magdeburg, with first building activities in the last years. Now, the company's success will be visible for miles around by a new complex of logistic facilities.
The demand in higher capacities got urgent after a successful breakthrough in the very competitive market for hemoglobin micro cuvettes in the United States. In addition, a range of new products starts soon and requires more space and improved stock workflows.
Recently, the EKFdiagnostic GmbH launched the production of very costeffective reaction cups for lab applications. Blood collectors and capillaries are also listed in the new catalogue as an EKF brand, and the BIOSEN HbA1c and the GlucoLine handheld analyzers will be introduced as two innovative and promising device developments in 2010 as well.
Berthold Walter, founder and CEO is highly pleased with this progress: "Mediumsized companies are always challenged to find the best balance of expansion and stabilization. I'm very glad to see the success of our company's strategy, with a good development of the staff and manifold innovations. Our investment of 1 Million EUR is a reasonable action to be prepared for the future, and it's also an important milestone for the 20th anniversary of our company next year."
The EKFdiagnostic GmbH employs 120 people in Barleben/Magdeburg and has additional branch offices in Leipzig, Krakow and Moscow. After the record sales in 2008, the company looks forward to an outstanding profit in 2009 again and has a solid financial base for further projects and company's longterm development. Represented by an international distributor network worldwide, EKF is also exhibiting at the biggest medical fair, the MEDICA, 18th - 21th November in Duesseldorf/Germany.
