Köhler is just one of the 50 experts that will be sharing their experiences with operators and developers of energy efficient production at the Energieforum Ostwestfalen-Lippe 2008 which takes place from the 5th to the 7th November in Messezentrum/Exhibiton Centre Bad Salzuflen.
The energy providers are also bringing their expertise to the European Convention along with a great many operators. Klaus Danwerth, Stadtwerke Bielefeld, shows how a new gas turbine generating plant on a paper mill premises helped to drastically reduce its energy costs without tying down the paper mill's industrial investment funds. Stadtwerke Bielefeld took on the entire investment costs of the construction on the paper mill premises within the framework of a contracting agreement.
Companies that have already lowered their energy consumption by increasing energy efficiency can find additional possibilities through the implementation of renewable energy. Large roof surfaces can be converted into solar power generation plants, modern bio gas plants have developed into industrial power generators that can be operated alongside the factory premises, new and innovative ORC processes open up new possibilities for companies while combined heat and power generation based on utilising waste heat can be applied, as can the economic application of bio fuel in low temperature operating areas as is shown by the example of the turbine producer Dresser-Rand-Nadrowski in East-Westphalia.
Increases in the efficiency of industrial energy provision do not however always have to take place exclusively on the industrial premises themselves: Stadtwerke Detmold, for example, provides businesses with ecologically sound community heating that is itself attained from a renewable energy source; wood.
The organisers, Energie Impuls OWL, IHK Ostwestfalen (zu Bielefeld) and IHK Lippe (zu Detmold) estimate that over 5,000 trade visitors will attend the EnergieArena trade fair and Forum Maschinenbau in the Messezentrum/Exhibiton Centre Bad Salzuflen and that more than 400 interested trade visitors will attend the convention alone. Among the speakers at the opening presentation will be Stephan Kohler, manager of the German Energy Agency (dena), Prof. Dr. Gerhard Berz, former head of Geo Risk Research at the Munich Re Group and Christa Thoben, minister of economic affairs in North Rhine-Westphalia. The European dimension of energy efficiency technology will be explained by Mechtild Rothe (MEP and vice-president of the European Parliament) and Patrick Lambert (Executive Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation).
The convention partners are Stadtwerke Bielefeld, E.ON Westfalen Weser, VDI-OWL and InnoDämm of Paderborn. Further support for the European based presentation is provided by: The German Energy Agency (dena), MSF-Vathauer Antriebstechnik, Rittal, Siemens, Stadtwerke Detmold, TÜV Nord, Volksbank Detmold - Paderborn - Höxter und Weidmüller.
