Europe's first AI DEFENSE CENTER comes from Erfurt

AI Defense Center - The line of defense against the cyber threats of today and tomorrow

(PresseBox) (Erfurt/Jena, )
Two Thuringian companies present themselves as pioneers in cyber security: With the opening of Europe's first AI defense center, ASOFTNET GmbH & Co. KG and Enginsight GmbH are creating an innovative line of defense against the cyber attacks of today and tomorrow. The state-of-the-art Security Operations Center (SOC) of the future relies on proactive defense mechanisms and collaboration to not only detect cyber attacks, but also predict and prevent them in advance. - A milestone for digital security in Germany and Europe.

A new era of cybersecurity begins now

The digital revolution is advancing relentlessly, and while artificial intelligence (AI) is driving progress, it also poses immense risks to global security. Cyberattacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated and the limits of what is possible are being redefined every day. Against this backdrop, ASOFTNET and Enginsight are proud to present the first AI DEFENSE CENTER in Europe. - According to the initiators, it is “the Security Operation Center (SOC) of the future”.

“The AI DEFENSE CENTER is a groundbreaking step towards a future in which AI will not only threats, but actively contributes to combating them. Attackers are already actively using AI. We need to do the same as quickly as possible, act fast and pool all available resources to ensure that AI is used to secure our future, not endanger it,” explains Alexander Sowinski, founder of the AI Defense Center and CEO of ASOFTNET. His vision is a world in which AI is used safely, responsibly and for the benefit of all humanity. The AI Defense Center is to play a central role in making this vision a reality.

Mario Jandeck, CEO of Enginsight, also has high expectations of the AI DEFENSE CENTER: “As cyber attacks can have a devastating impact on critical infrastructures such as power grids, financial systems and water supplies, the center will make a decisive contribution to security and stability.”

From idea to reality. Local, national and international cooperation for a secure digital future

Together with like-minded technology partners, Alexander Sowinski has been working on implementing his idea of the AI Defense Center since 2023. He recalls: “As a SOC service provider, we have increasingly observed AI-based attacks and their steady increase. After discussions with the Hasso Plattner Institute and other partner companies, we realized that a conventional SOC would soon no longer be sufficient. The reports from the BKA and BSI supported this assessment,” Sowinski continues. “It was clear to us that we needed AI support to predict and fend off attacks even faster and even better.”

Enginsight GmbH, with its unified security management software, plays a key role and provides one of the technological foundations. The Enginsight developers continue to play a leading role in the further development of AI. IBM provides the necessary infrastructure.

Even though the AI DEFENSE CENTER uses many AI-supported products, many evaluations are still carried out manually, i.e. by human interpretation of the collected data. Alexander Sowinski's team is therefore set to grow steadily.

The Erfurt security experts work closely with a large number of other national and international partners - including government authorities, private companies, research institutions and non-governmental organizations - to ensure continuous further development. “By sharing knowledge and resources, we can identify threats more quickly and respond to them more effectively. Our international networks enable us to monitor global threat trends and develop transnational defence strategies,” reports Alexander Sowinski and adds: ”We are also involved in the standardization and harmonization of security protocols at an international level. In this way, we ensure that protection against AI-based threats is guaranteed worldwide.” He sees this collaboration as crucial to creating a global safety net that protects society from the growing dangers of AI.

3360° security approach - proactive and preventive

The AI Defense Center is more than just another player in cybersecurity. Instead of just reacting to existing threats, the ASOFTNET Enginsight team develops technologies that are able to predict and defend against future attacks.

The AI DEFENSE CENTER thus offers advantages that conventional SOCs cannot provide:

– Proactive defense: AI detects potential attacks before they are carried out.

– Faster analyses: Threats are detected and analyzed at lightning speed thanks to the use of machine learning.

– Darknet reconnaissance: Threats are identified on the darknet before an attack even takes place.

– Continuous further development: The algorithms used in the AI DEFENCE CENTRE learn continuously and adapt to new threat situations.

This innovative approach is designed to protect companies and organizations even better against the constantly growing threats posed by AI-supported cyber attacks. “In view of the increasing threat situation and the complexity of modern IT infrastructures, the AI DEFENSE CENTER offers a solution that protects companies while remaining flexible and scalable,” explains Mario Jandeck.

Enterprise service to protect against old and new threats

The AI DEFENSE CENTER ensures that companies not only react to existing threats, but can also actively prevent potential attacks and continuously optimize their defenses. It is primarily aimed at enterprise customers - even those who already already have their own SOC team. They not only gain additional AI-supported defense mechanisms, but also direct access to the expertise of AI experts, who are also available as an extended arm during peak times and times outside of regular company working hours. The combination of the company's own SOC team reinforced by the Erfurt SOC team has already been successfully tested.

AI DEFENSE CENTER as a service naturally has its price. It is therefore not an option for all customers. However, ASOFTNET and Enginsight can also offer a security solution for smaller and medium-sized companies with a smaller budget. Alexander Sowinski explains: “Smaller SMEs in particular, with little to no security expertise and resources, also gain a high level of security through our other managed security services (security audit, MDR, SOC as a service): these go far beyond what SMEs can usually provide themselves. They are also significantly cheaper than building up your own resources and ensure 24/7 monitoring.

AI defense center at it-sa

ASOFTNET and Enginsight will be exhibiting together at it-sa, the largest trade fair for IT security in Europe, from October 22 to 24, 2024 in Nuremberg. For all those who want to more about the KI-ABWEHRZENTRUM or get to know the team behind it, this is the this is the next best opportunity; Hall 7a, Stand 109 + 111.
