Hydrogen as key element for European energy transition

European energy symposium on “hydrogen as energy source” takes place on 12 September 2018 at Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT)

(PresseBox) (Ellwangen, )
Hydrogen as an energy carrier is one of the important pillars in achieving the objectives of the energy transformation. It can be generated via a „green path“, stored over a sufficient time period in stationary reservoirs or mobile tanks and used in a versatile manner. To bring the hydrogen technology to its full fruition, all elements of the hydrogen cycle are to be designed more efficiently to cope with traditional technologies which have become sophisticated over decades. The total energy transformation towards renewables, comprising a reliable supply for industrial, commercial and private consumers at payable costs is among the greatest endeavors of our time.

Therefore, German innovation consultancy EurA hosts the 5th Energy Symposium in cooperation with and at the grounds of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The event is dedicated to „hydrogen as energy source“ and will cover all parts of the value added chain.

Participants get in touch with the latest initiatives and results regarding electrolysis, generation and upgrading, storage, utilisation e.g. in mobile and residential applications and safety. The energy symposium focusses on connecting and hybridising progressive technologies and the integrated realisation of relevant applications.

The symposium consists of invited keynote lectures reviewing the key elements, as well as workshops and a visit to hydrogen test centre HYKA of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

The Energy Symposium is the annual main event of the "Energy Innovation Europe" (EIE) network founded by EurA. In order to guarantee Europe a secure, sustainable energy supply, cross-sectoral know-how, opening up and access to all technology and sales markets, jobs, extensive capital income and thus a high standard of living, around 30 companies and research institutions from all over Europe have joined together this network.

The aim of this Europe-wide network is to bundle the interests of companies in the entire energy value chain, to capture the market potential in the European member states, to open up new markets, to acquire funding, to establish cooperations and to form a "critical mass" in order to play a decisive role in shaping political decisions with regard to research, innovations, legal and other framework conditions. "Energy Innovation Europe" wants to be incubator and growth core. The network helps companies to identify and exploit the many opportunities offered by energy change for their own business development.

The ENERGY SYMPOSIUM 2018 will take place at the FTU on KIT Campus Nord, Hermann-von-Helmholtz-Platz 1, 76344 Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen, Germany.

The one-day event starts at 9:00 a.m. The number of participants is limited to 100. Registrations should be made until 31 July 2018. If the number of participants exceeds the capacity, the registrations will be considered in the order in which they are received. The participation fee per person is 350,- Euro plus 19 % VAT. This also includes the on-the-eve meeting on with a visit to the Total Multi Fuel station or the Karlsruhe Palace and a subsequent warm-up (dinner).

The event is free of charge for members of the EIE network, including the pre-evening programme.
