Putting Natural Refrigerants on the EU Agenda

eurammon and European Cold Storage and Logistics Association to Cooperate

(PresseBox) (Frankfurt / Brussels, )
In the interest of sustainable development in refrigeration, eurammon, the European initiative for natural refrigerants, has joined forces with the European Cold Storage and Logistics Association (ECSLA). The aim of the reciprocal membership is to champion environmentally friendly solutions in refrigeration at the European Union level, and strengthen the position of natural refrigerants. In addition ECSLA members will be provided with information about the possibilities of using natural refrigerants in cold storage and logistics. Both organisations will seek out political decision makers, support each other at expert hearings hosted by EU bodies, and promote the interdisciplinary dissemination of expert knowledge.

“The environmental report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) made it very clear: global climate change is on its way. Its repercussions can only be mitigated if the emission of greenhouse gases is reduced sharply,” says Monika Witt, Chairwoman of eurammon, the European initiative for natural refrigerants. “For applications in refrigeration, this means concentrating on natural refrigerants such as ammonia, carbon dioxide or hydrocarbons, which are climate neutral. With the help of the Brussels-based ECSLA lobby, we can better approach the Members of Parliament with these issues and actively influence the decisions made by the EU.”

ECSLA, the European Cold Storage and Logistics Association, represents the interests of its members vis-à-vis European and international institutions. By helping to shape the economic and legal framework, the ECSLA lobbies to ensure the future competitiveness of cold storage and logistics operators.

eurammon e.V.

eurammon is a joint European initiative of companies, institutions and individuals who advocate an increased use of natural refrigerants. As a knowledge pool for the use of natural refrigerants in refrigeration engineering, the initiative sees as its mandate the creation of a platform for information sharing and the promotion of public awareness and acceptance of natural refrigerants. The objective is to promote the use of natural refrigerants in the interest of a healthy environment, and thereby encourage a sustainable approach in refrigeration engineering. eurammon provides comprehensive information about all aspects of natural refrigerants to experts, politicians and the public at large. It serves as a qualified contact for anyone interested in the subject. Users and designers of refrigeration projects can turn to eurammon for specific project experience and extensive information, as well as for advice on all matters of planning, licensing and operating refrigeration plants. The initiative was set up in 1996 and is open to European companies and institutions with a vested interest in natural refrigerants, as well as to individuals e.g. scientists and researchers.
