Fourth annual "EXCHAiNGE - the Supply Chainers' Conference" October 6-7, 2016, in Frankfurt am Main

(PresseBox) (Frankfurt am Main, )
Business leaders from the fields of supply chain management, finance, logistics, and purchasing will converge in Frankfurt am Main for the fourth time on October 6 and 7, 2016, to talk about current challenges and successful plans of action in the supply chain. The agenda focuses on top issues like compliance, digitization, supply chain finance, and the impact of the new Silk Road on global supply chains.

Leaders from the fields of supply chain management, finance, logistics, and purchasing will meet October 6 and 7 at the fourth international “EXCHAiNGE – the Supply Chainers’ Conference” in Frankfurt am Main to talk about current challenges and successful plans of action in the supply chain. The conference – which brings together creative minds from start-ups, small and medium-sized businesses, and large enterprises – will be held for the second time in the House of Logistics and Mobility (HOLM) right on the grounds of Frankfurt International Airport. The general moderator for both days will be innovation expert Thorsten Hülsmann, Managing Director of EffizienzCluster Management GmbH in Mülheim an der Ruhr.

Dr. Andreas Aulinger, Director of the Institute for Organization & Management (IOM) at Steinbeis University in Berlin and the opening day keynote speaker, will highlight what today’s managers should care about when it comes to agile organizations and networks in the supply chain. Is the acute interest in agile organizations that we see today just another management fad that will soon pass, like so many fads before it? Or are we witnessing a long-term, transformative shift in how businesses, networks, and supply chains are organized and managed?

Willy Lin, Member of the Hong Kong Logistics Development Council and Managing Director of Milo’s Knitwear (International) Ltd and Milo’s Manufacturing Co Ltd., will deliver the second day’s keynote. His topic: What is the new Silk Road? How does it change global supply chains?

The first session on October 6 is entitled Compliance – Corruption? No thank you! Dr. Michael Henke, Institute Director at Fraunhofer IML, will serve as the moderator for a panel examining such issues as finding the right balance to help supply chain professionals move forward. Joining the discussion will be Sebastian Grethe from the start-up Mapudo GmbH, Dr. Egbert Hubmann from Bilfinger SE, and Alexander Schröder from Axel Springer SE. “Digitized procurement processes are an opportunity to create transparency and prevent corruption,” notes Sebastian Grethe, co-founder & Managing Director of Mapudo. “But at the same time, today’s compliance regulations frequently make it difficult for new B2B start-ups to deploy digital solutions. In this environment, innovations can often be implemented only through a pragmatic application of corporate guidelines.”

Bettina Bohlmann, Managing Partner of 3p Procurement Branding GmbH, will use a simulation to moderate an interactive dialog on Thursday afternoon between the audience and panel. The theme: Digitization – the power of information – with a special focus on digitization and the human factor. Joining the discussion are the logistics experts Mathieu Caudal from the start-up Unu, Dr. Rembert Horstmann from IMPERIAL Logistics, Karl Kirschenhofer from Nokia, and Hans Pieper from Deutsche Umschlaggesellschaft Schiene-Straße (DUSS).

Day two highlights include the panel discussion The new Silk Road – How does the project “One Belt, One Road” affect global supply chains? and the session that follows on supply chain finance (SCF). Moderator Thilo Jörgl, Editor-in-Chief of the trade journal LOGISTIK HEUTE, joins a prominent panel of researchers, logistics service providers, and industry representatives from China, Hong Kong, and Germany to examine how the New Silk Road project is coming along and what its objectives and challenges are. Scheduled co-presenters: Javier Contijoch from BYD Forklift Europe, Norbert Dierks from the BMW Group, Oliver Kaut from DHL Global Forwarding, Willy Lin from Hong Kong Logistics Development Council, Lars Nennhaus from Duisburger Hafen, and Dr. Michael Schüller from Osnabrück University.

Andrea Walbert, Managing Director of PMI Production Management Institute, will join four guests as moderator of Supply chain finance – why are billions of euros not put to better use? The workshop examines both successful and unsuccessful SCF concepts and highlights the underlying issues. Attendees can look forward to an open discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of common SCF concepts by those who are and are not (yet) using SCF. The expert panel includes Katrin Hanske from Orion Engineered Carbons, Dr. Sebastian Hölker from UniCredit Bank, Sönke Jungclaus from Freudenberg, and Christian Pangerl from eResearchTechnology.

The Supply Chain Management Award will be presented for the eleventh time in an evening gala on October 6. The award is presented by Strategy&, the global strategy consulting team at PwC, and the industry trade journal LOGISTIK HEUTE. Each year since 2006, the prestigious award has honored outstanding solutions in industrial value chains and the companies that exhibit perseverance or creativity in optimizing their supply chain.

The finalists for the coveted Supply Chain Management Award 2016 will begin by presenting their ideas to the jury and attendees. The theme: Supply chain best practices – details behind the scenes. Industry professionals in attendance can submit their votes right then and there. The results will be considered by the jury of industry experts, researchers, consultants, and journalists, which will deliberate on site immediately following the presentations of the finalists.

The formal presentation of the Supply Chain Management Award 2016 will take place during the evening ceremony that culminates the event’s opening day. This year, for the first time, the award ceremony is presided over by Dorothee Bär, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure and Government Coordinator for Freight Transport and Logistics.

The EXCHAiNGE conference will take place October 6 and 7, 2016, at the House of Logistics and Mobility (HOLM) in Frankfurt am Main. For complete information on the event, please visit www.exchainge.de/en.
