Running on the 14th and 15th November in parallel with the electronica trade fair, the Embedded Platforms Conference focuses on delivering engaging technical presentations tailored to the embedded design engineer and technology management audience. Farnell element14 are sponsors of the Conference's opening session between 09:00 - 12:30, which includes presentations on embedded design starts and migrating to multicore, as well as an engaging panel debate on the industry's readiness to deal with future design challenges.
In the first presentation Jean Labrosse, founder of global RTOS expert Micrium, will bring down the spotlight on how designers select architectures for a new product design start and challenges the status quo by asking whether CPU architectures are really as important today as they were a few years ago?
Jean-Christophe Bodet, Freescale Semiconductor's Director of Field Application Engineer and Eco-system in EMEA will then present a session on migrating to multicore, encompassing different types of multicore products and the challenges associated with the migration from single to multicore. An example of an eco-system associated with the appropriate support will be provided, as well as a view on how multicore products will scale in the future.
Finally, Premier Farnell's Chief Technology Officer David Shen will participate in a 90 minute discussion and debate, inspired by the Raspberry Pi and its founders' vision to inspire the next generation of programmers and get young people excited about electronics design. The debate will focus on how ready the next generation of engineers and programmers are to deal with future design challenges.
David Shen comments: "When it comes to embedded applications, selecting the right platform, operating system, components and system design is essential. But this serious decision-making process presents embedded-system engineers in SMEs and major corporations with a myriad of questions. We're delighted to be contributing to the Embedded Platform Conference, which will help to provide expert answers to many of these questions. The Conference is a great platform for Farnell element14 to demonstrate its rich expertise and technology leadership in embedded systems level solutions, embedded software, embedded OS and hardware development following our acquisition of Embest earlier this year."
