The agreement includes all activities in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, New Zealand and Australia. Energy Micro's energy-friendly product portfolio includes 32-bit ARM® Cortex(TM) -M3-, M4F- and M0-based microcontrollers. Coordinated software protocols make familiarisation and programming easier.
Glyn Jones, Managing Director & Owner of GLYN, is looking forward to this cooperation: "We see strong market interest in Energy Micro and its ultra-low power microcontroller solutions. Many development engineers all over the world see the need to extend the battery lifespan of their systems in a sustainable manner. We can now satisfy their needs. The new generation of EFR4D wireless ARM® microcontrollers, e.g. for the wireless M-Bus, IEEE 802.15 WPAN, Bluetooth, opens up many new opportunities for us. Energy Micro perfectly supplements our existing product lines."
Geir Førre, President and CEO of Energy Micro, sees a promising common future: "GLYN has impressed the distribution sector for many years with its excellent support. Together with GLYN, we can reach the development engineers and all the important decision-makers in companies that have to reduce the energy consumption of their systems."
The 32-git EFM32 by Energy Micro is currently the most energy-efficient microcontroller in the world and is particularly suitable for energy-saving applications such as electricity, gas and water meters, building automation, alarm and security systems as well as portable applications for medical technology and the gyms. Benchmark measurements against previous energy-saving microcontrollers in the market have shown that EFM32 microcontrollers only use a quarter of the energy used by other 8-, 16- or 32-bit MCUs.
The lifespan of a 3V button battery can therefore be extended by at least 300% to more than 10 years. The microcontroller is characterised by very low power consumption in active mode. Additional highlights are the short data processing time, the very fast wake-up and the very low standby current.
