Zwei Spielarten stehen zur Verfügung: ein reines Wissensspiel, bei dem den Teilnehmern im Wochenrhythmus Themen aus dem Finanzbereich (Handel mit Exchange Traded Funds, Fragen der Besteuerung von Börsengewinnen, Portfoliotheorie etc.) näher gebracht und am Ende der Spielzeit in einem Wissenstest abgefragt werden sowie ein Fondsbörsenspiel, bei dem der Handel mit Fondsanteilen simuliert wird. Im Fonds-Börsenspiel können die Teilnehmer vier Monate lang bis Ende Januar 2008 das vorgegebene fiktive Spielguthaben von 20.000 Euro vermehren und in dieser Zeit möglichst viel über den Fonds-Börsenhandel lernen. Alle rund 3.200 auf dem Handelssystem Xetra und dem Frankfurter Parkett gelisteten Fonds können gehandelt werden.
Wie beim Börsenhandel in der Realität stehen den Teilnehmern verschiedene Ordertypen und -gültigkeiten zur Verfügung; auch die Spielzeiten entsprechen den realen Handelszeiten.
Sowohl den Gewinnern des Fonds-Börsenspiels als auch denen des Wissenstests winken jeweils Depotanteile von 10.000 Euro (Platz 1) bzw. 5.000 Euro (Platz 2). Dritter Preis ist eine Reise nach Frankfurt für zwei Personen mit umfangreichem Rahmenprogramm.
