The rate of growth of the only International Supplier's Trade Fair in the south of Germany can be attributed not only to the small, medium-sized and large domestic firms that attend, but also to the fact that international providers of system solutions, components, parts, products and services are increasingly using INTERPART to forge new contacts and consolidate existing business relationships. This is evident in the larger number of joint stands between domestic and international companies, regions, organisations and research institutions, compared with last year. INTERPART exhibitors come from the fields of materials, metal processing and metal working, electronic and electrical engineering, IT and communication technology, plastic, rubber and composite processing, prototype engineering, tools and tool manufacturing, connection, joint and securing elements, packaging, commission processing and services. This year's event is focussing on lightweight construction, microtechnology and acoustic measurement and testing technology for manufacturing. These forward-looking subjects will also lead to an increase in visitor numbers at the 4th INTERPART.
Lighter and more stable
Not only, but especially in the automotive industry, every gram counts. Lightweight construction is therefore important across different technologies and industries. Lightweight construction solutions are in just as high demand in the automotive industry as in the aerospace industry, road and rail vehicle construction, ship-building, machine and plant construction as well as in the furniture industry. The lightweight construction cluster of the Landshut University of Applied Sciences and its partners will present innovative solutions for lightweight construction materials, lightweight construction designs and manufacturing technologies at a joint stand at the INTERPART Trade Fair. They are focusing not only on the light metals aluminium and magnesium, but also on fibre and fibreglass composite materials and cellular materials. A highlight of the presentation is a completely new kind of mineral foam composite material. In addition to a favourable energy absorption capability with a low specific weight, the cellular composite material offers additional advantages for lightweight construction in automotive engineering due to its production as a syntactic foam. These additional advantages include the easy and reproducible adjustment of the foam structure, good formability and a high weight-specific stiffness. The foam's good energy absorption capability also promises functionally strong, modulatable crash solutions, such as energy-absorbing structural components in the bonnet for head-on collisions or lightweight reinforcing components for side-on crashes. Another advantage is the relatively low material costs, which result from the use of recycling products such as bottle glass to manufacture the insert bodies.
Small, smaller, micro components
The extreme miniaturisation of functional electronic components in cell phones and laptops, airbag and navigation systems, has been crucial in the market success of these products. Companies from other industries and application fields are now trying to jump on the bandwagon by using new microsystem approaches to realise innovative product ideas and expand their technological competitiveness. And they can find support at the IPEK (Institute for Product development at the University of Karlsruhe) stand at this year's INTERPART Trade Fair. Everything at this stand revolves around the development, design and manufacturing of micromechanical systems using metal and ceramic and the ability to produce the geometries of microcomponents.
On the way to zero-error quality
Stricter component quality and reliability requirements, the desire for zero-error production and the improvement of existing products mean that innovative, quality-assuring measures are increasingly important. Under the motto "Acoustic Solution", RTE Akustik- und Prüftechnik is exhibiting acoustic measurement and testing technology that can be used in manufacturing for the fields of noise and functional testing of components, material testing and machine process monitoring. In a live presentation, visitors will also be able to check the quality of the exhibited parts.
Matching congress program
The INTERPART 2006 exhibition portfolio is rounded off by an attractive congress program. This includes a technical forum with practical, application-based presentations on the key subjects of lightweight construction, microtechnology and acoustic solutions as well as other areas. In addition, there will be special exhibitions and an R&D area to encourage dialogue between industry and science.
On October 10 and 11, 2006 the Deutsche Gesellschaft für akustische Qualitätssicherung e.V. (DGaQS [German Society for Acoustic Quality Assurance]) will hold a conference at the exhibition center on the subject of acoustic quality assurance.
Added value through simultaneous events
At the same time as INTERPART, the SURFACTS International Trade Fair for Surface Technology and the PaintExpo International Trade Fair for Painting Technology will also be held at the exhibition centre. For exhibitors and visitors alike, this will result in valuable synergy effects and possibilities of direct and efficient dialogue on solutions for the perpetually increasing requirements of the properties of surfaces.
