A third of all people in the world live in poverty. Oxfam, one of the most influential international development organisations, finds practical, innovative ways to change this: working together with partner organisations in the area and local people. Unjust conditions and missing start-up aid often prevent these people from taking their lives into their own hands.
Ralf Hager, founder and Managing Director of Hager Unternehmensberatung explains: “Entrepreneurship has the power to overcome poverty in a sustainable manner. With their own small businesses, people can free themselves from poverty and live a life of independence and dignity. The women and men who we target with our help efforts have no access to start-up capital, training, or support in developing their skills. Usually, they have no way to respond to crisis situations in their environment, to influence important political decisions that affect them or to enforce their rights. Together with Oxfam, we want to change that.
We are determined to give a chance to people living in poverty and to fight for a just world without poverty.
As the founder of Hager Unternehmensberatung, I know only too well how hard it can be to start a business in our affluent society. That’s why it’s especially important for me to be able to help people from financially weaker structures to start their own businesses.”
