HARTING Technology Group accelerates e-mobility

Teams with partners Rinspeed, KUKA, innogy, SAP and MHP for tailor-made solutions in the "electromobility infrastructure" area

(PresseBox) (Espelkamp / Hannover, )
At this year's HANNOVER MESSE industrial trade show (April 1-5, 2019, Hall 11/C15), the HARTING Technology Group will be presenting intelligent connectivity with solution packages for the Cloud, Edge and IIoT. HARTING calls this connectivity for Integrated Industry “HAI³ powered connectivity!”

HARTING is keeping in step with this year's trade show motto of "Integrated Industry – Industrial Intelligence", which means the convergence of human and artificial intelligence into industrial intelligence in order to create added value for customers.

E-mobility requires intelligent data processing

Together with HARTING partners Rinspeed, KUKA, innogy, SAP and MHP, the technology group is showing a wide variety of solutions in the area of the "infrastructure for electromobility" ecosystem. For example, Swiss car visionary Frank M. Rinderknecht will once again be present with his latest vehicle study, the "microSNAP". The infrastructure-electromobility ecosystem requires intelligent data processing and analysis systems in order to be able to offer the services that are desired. Among others, this includes information as to which nearest charging station is best suited with regard to the battery status or which energy provider currently has the cheapest rate.

Even charging systems, which fuel a vehicle virtually autonomously, require data from a wide variety of systems. Charging infrastructure solutions such as the Type 2 connector for AC charging or the Combo for fast DC charging are already adapted for such systems. At the industrial trade show, HARTING will demonstrate "live" how automatic charging works. A charging assistant from Augsburg-based automation specialist KUKA that emerged from a research project with Volkswagen AG guides the HARTING charging connector into the vehicle socket and stops the charging process as soon as the drive battery has reached the required charge level. The enables it to conveniently and autonomously help keep the vehicle ready for use at all times in a private garage. The planned product portfolio expansion of the charging assistants for professional use - e. g. for fleets or in parking garages - in conjunction with autonomous vehicles, is another indispensable component of the mobility of the future.

The MICA® edge computer is used very close to the application here as well, among others to operate charging management or to safeguard billing systems with secure communication.

Optimised application possibilities for e-fleet management

The digital services for the "microSNAP" are coordinated by a co-innovation team. MHP focuses on the smart mobility ecosystem for automated intermodal transport solutions, while SAP uses a software platform that employs data analysis, machine learning and IoT to optimise mobility and transport. By combining modular, autonomous electric vehicles, an automated charging infrastructure, integrated data, industrial intelligence and a suitable software solution, the future logistical challenges in urban space can be jointly mastered.

Innogy is also on board as a partner company. As an internationally positioned technology provider, innogy eMobility Solutions GmbH offers eMobility hardware and software products as well as associated services. The new generation of innogy's 22 kW charging stations is intuitive to use, networked, and safe and reliable. Simple, easy-to-understand controls and the highly visible LED status indicator make it easy for users. All three variants offer digital services that can be used for administration and maintenance. The charging stations are designed for all weather situations and feature robust theft protection. The highest data protection standards are guaranteed for authentication and payment.
