HARTING welcomes trade journalists

Trade press conference 2022 took place as hybrid event / focus on use cases of industrial applications in connection with HANNOVER MESSE 2022

(PresseBox) (Espelkamp, )
Once again this year, the HARTING Technology Group staged its traditional trade press conference in the run-up to HANNOVER MESSE. After the event had taken place exclusively digitally in the last two years, this year the invited journalists could choose between participating digitally or on-site. The live streaming took place from the HARTING Forum in Espelkamp, where the journalists present had the opportunity to examine the exhibited demonstrators prior to the trade fair. The focus of the Technology Group was to present concrete application examples for the latest products and solutions.

The HARTING Technology Group used the originally scheduled HANNOVER MESSE week to inform interested trade journalists about all the latest news. Christopher Ukatz (Managing Director of HARTING Deutschland GmbH) and Detlef Sieverdingbeck (Head of Corporate Communications and Branding at the HARTING Foundation) welcomed our guests and things immediately got exciting: Dr Kurt D. Bettenhausen, Board Member New Technologies and Development, highlighted in a short speech what the Technology Group is all about when it highlights "Connectivity+": "With Connectivity+, we are bridging the gap between societal and technological megatrends to our products and solutions. Sustainability, demographic change and (de-) globalisation are the guard rails for developing the connectivity of tomorrow and creating customer-oriented solutions for the challenges of industrial transformation" This year's strategic orientation of HANNOVER MESSE, which is the world's leading trade fair for industry, is in line with this and includes the key issues of "sustainability".

The experts of the technology group presented the respective topics:
  • Use-Case Energy, Modularisation and Miniaturisation: Here the focus was on energy efficiency and climate friendliness. One important measure is the sustainable use of renewable energies from the sun and wind, while continuous efficiency improvements of the infrastructure used also features prominently. Connectors are among the efficiency boosting components. HARTING has conducted a study on the energy efficiency of data centres. Result: Connectors with low-impedance contacts are capable of contributing to energy savings of up to 50 % in connection technology.
The new Han® HPR HPTC series, which was specially developed for transformer applications in demanding, harsh environments, also formed part of the content of this programme item.
  • Use-Case Automation: This one laced the emphasis on reliable interfaces with quick-locks for the connection of data, signals and power were presented – saving valuable installation time in automation. HARTING offers connectors with PushPull locking for this time-saving alternative. Interfaces can be connected and disconnected rapidly and reliably by simply pushing or pulling the housing. Unlike screwed solutions, no torques need to be checked and no tools need to be used. Special attention was paid to the new M12 PushPull standard IEC 61076-2-010 for a uniform market standard and, with Mini PushPull, to the miniaturised possibilities of IP65-protected interfaces for industrial PCs.
  • Use-Case Co-Creation: Joint development, creating new products hand in hand, standing together for innovations - all this is included in the term collaborative engineering. With the realisation of customer-specific cabling solutions, HARTING is offering cross-market development expertise.
  • Use-Case eMobility: With its product portfolios, the HARTING Technology Group occupies a broad field in the area of electromobility. The use case covered the range from modern and standardised AC/DC charging solutions to charging sockets and components within the charging applications themselves.
  • Use-Case Data Models: Under the catchword of "Connectivity+", HARTING providing solutions that extend far beyond the actual electrotechnical components. These include services such as product configurators and smart data models. The common denominator of these services is that they provide customers and users with concrete added value and optimally complement the core function of plug connections. The use case data models took the participants live into the virtual product world.
A special highlight was the announcement of a world premiere: HARTING has been accompanying industrial transformation for more than 70 years. With the development of the HARTING standard connector, the Han®, the young engineer Wilhelm Harting set an industrial standard which still represents a basic technology for industrial transformation today.

Dietmar Harting recognised the potential and focused on this technology after joining the company in 1967. Thanks to his impetus, another milestone in the company's history was reached with the introduction of the first modular industrial connector, Han-Modular®. The first connector transmit power, signals, data and even compressed air side by side in a single connector revolutionised the market and is now considered the market standard for modular industrial connectors. Almost 30 years after this milestone, HARTING will present the next expansion stage of industrial connectors as the basic technology of today's industrial transformation and digitalisation on 17 May 2022: The Han-Modular® Domino modules. They serve industry's requirements for savings in installation space and weight and thereby factor in megatrend of sustainability. From 30 May, this new solution will naturally also be highlighted at HANNOVER MESSE.

Trade journalists are welcome to contact presseteam@HARTING.com if they are interested in pursuing the topic further.
