Visitors to UTECH Europe will find exhibitors from a broad cross-section of the polyurethane industry. The last international conference and exhibition, which was held in 2012, attracted over 3,500 decision makers from 86 countries. According to the organisers, an even larger number is expected to attend this year. In this innovative environment, Hennecke will showcase an absolute highlight at its redesigned booth: the new, specially developed lightweight car roof for the new smart fortwo. The company's expertise gained from nearly 80 high-volume production lines for load floors and sliding roofs in paper honeycomb sandwich structure all over the world has been concentrated in this exterior sandwich component which is the first to be mass-produced. The innovative lightweight roof developed by Fehrer Composite Components for the new smart fortwo consists of a material mix of polyurethane, glass fibre and paper honeycomb and is coated with a thermoplastic outer skin. It provides the same stability as the series roof of its predecessor but is 30 percent lighter. Compared to traditional composite parts, the individual layers are not bonded in a complex, multi-step process, but in a single operation. This "one-shot process" is becoming more and more popular. Products are manufactured to be close to their final contours, and in terms of surface finish can be demoulded without requiring further processing.
During the three-day conference, the Hennecke specialists will give presentations on "Sensitive Surface - Surface Coating with Polyurethane" and "New JFLEX Foaming Technology - Update of the Latest Developments" to inform participants about the state of the art in Hennecke's PU processing technology.
With over 65 years of experience as well as a considerable annual budget for research and development, Hennecke produces machines, plants and systems for all PU core technologies. The company's product portfolio comprises high-pressure metering machines, mixheads, elastomer, moulded foam, refrigerator, sandwich panel, slabstock and recycling lines as well as mould carriers, tank farms and peripheral units. It is therefore not surprising that the polyurethane technology specialist is one of the suppliers with the widest range of equipment and longest track record in the world market.
