Mit dem Begriff der „Atmosphäre“ verbinden sich in der Stadt- und Freiraumplanung seit längerem Hoffnungen, die Gestaltproduktion sinnlich reflektiert an die Gegebenheiten des Ortes und die Konstrukte des Entwurfs zu knüpfen. Gegenwärtig lässt sich dazu beobachten, dass das Potential der Atmosphäre auf die Produktion von Entwurfsdesign beschränkt wird. Übersehen wird dabei, dass es um die besonnene Einbeziehung des leiblichen Erlebens vor Ort in die Prozesse der Planung gehen sollte. Rationaler Vermarktungsdruck und emotionale Wahrnehmungslust scheinen einander auszuschließen? Der Vortrag setzt sich mit der Frage auseinander, wie Wahrnehmung etabliert erscheinende Planungsmuster bereichern und unterstützen könnte.
