Der von ARO® Artländer entwickelte Kinderschlafsack wurde auf drei Kriterien überprüft: Wärmeisolation, Atmungsaktivität und Pufferwirkung bei leichtem Schwitzen. Die Wärmeisolation des Schlafsackes wird mit Hilfe der thermischen Gliederpuppe "Charlene" ermittelt. Sie gibt Auskunft darüber, wie gut der Schlafsack die Kinder gegenüber der kälteren Umgebungstemperatur isoliert. Der Kinderschlafsack ist für normales Klima ausgelegt, dies bedeutet eine Umgebungstemperatur ab 18°C, darunter sinkt die Temperatur in Schlafzimmern auch im Winter selten.
Die Atmungsaktivität ist für Kinderbettwaren besonders wichtig - sie wird in Hohenstein mit dem sogenannten Hautmodell getestet und gibt Auskunft darüber, wie schnell dampfförmiger Schweiß durch das Material nach außen abgegeben wird. Neben der Atmungsaktivität sorgt auch die Pufferwirkung bei leichtem Schwitzen dafür, dass im Schlafsack ein trockenes, angenehmes Klima herrscht. Denn nur wenn im Schlafsack eine Wohlfühltemperatur herrscht, können Kinder erholt schlafen.
