Die Erfahrungen zeigen, daß sich Kunden an IBM im Wesentlichen aus folgenden Gründen wenden:
- Sicherheit langfristiger Investitionen in workload-optimerte Systeme,
- innovative und nachvollziehbare Roadmaps,
- Systeme, die Rechenzentrumskosten senken können und
- geeignete Systeme für neue Workloads wie Analytikanwendungen
Die IBM Migration Factory
Seit IBM das Migration-Factory-Program aufgelegt hat, um Kunden dabei zu unterstützen, auf IBM Plattformen zu migrieren, gab es mehr als 4500 solcher Projekte. Die überwiegende Mehrheit dieser Migrationen waren von Oracle/Sun und HP hin zu IBM. Bisher gab es in diesem Jahr 532 Migrationen von Oracle/Sun und 481 von HP.
Alleine 286 Kunden sind im dritten Quartal auf IBM Power-Systeme migriert, darunter 172 von Oracle/Sun und 95 von HP. Die Anzahl der Migrationen auf IBM Power-Systeme seit Anfang 2010 beträgt annähernd 800 Projekte, das sind bereits 200 mehr als im gesamten Jahr 2009. Zusätzlich migrierten mehr als 100 Kunden auf IBM System x-, System z- und Speicherlösungen im dritten Quartal von Oracle/Sun oder HP.
In Deutschland gibt es ein spezialisiertes Migrationsteam ("MigrateNow!") mit Sitz in München, das lokale Migrationsprojekte kundenindividuell unterstützen kann. Uwe Fassnacht, Technical Solutions Manager der IBM Migration Factory, kommentiert: "Unsere verlässliche und erprobte Methodik, Migrationsprojekte durchzuführen, hat sich über Jahre bewährt und kommt im Markt gut an.
