Gartner: IBM Nummer eins im weltweiten Servermarkt nach Umsatz

Marktführer auch bei Blades und Unix-basierten Systemen im dritten Quartal

Nach den von Gartner, Inc. veröffentlichten Marktzahlen konnte IBM [NYSE:IBM] seinen Marktanteil an weltweit verkauften Servern gemessen nach Umsatz im dritten Quartal 2006 auf 33,7 Prozent ausbauen. Im Vorjahreszeitraum waren es noch 32,7 Prozent gewesen (1).

Dieses Wachstum wurde vor allem durch die strategischen Segmente Großrechner und Blade-Server sowie den Erfolg der POWER 5+ Architektur im Unix-Markt getragen.

So konnte IBM seine Marktanteile gemessen nach Umsätzen im Segment der Blade-Systeme zum zehnten Mal in Folge mit 43,9 Prozent nach Umsätzen und mit 38,0 Prozent nach Stückzahlen verteidigen. Zusätzlich beeinflusst wurden diese Zugewinne durch die Einführung der CoolBlue-Power Management-Technologie und der neuen AMD/Opteron basierten-Blade Systeme.

Der Gartner-Report zeigt auch ein Wachstum für IBM im Segment der Unix-Server. Dort konnte im Vergleich zum Vorjahreszeitraum den Marktanteil nach Umsätzen um 3,2 Prozentpunkte auf 32,9 Prozent gesteigert werden. Im Segment der RISC/Itanium-basierten Unix-Systeme legten die Marktanteile nach Umsätzen um 3,4 Prozent-Punkte auf 34,3 Prozent im Vergleich zum Vorjahreszeitraum zu.
