Im Rahmen der Kooperation wird IBM eng mit dem Centre for Security and Society der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg zusammenarbeiten. In diesem bündelt die Universität juristische und gesellschaftswissenschaftliche Expertise zum Thema Recht und Sicherheit in Deutschland. In ihrem Kooperationsabkommen vereinbaren beide Organisationen, bei rechtlichen Fragen bezüglich intelligenter Sicherheitstechnologie zusammenzuarbeiten. Ebenso wird das rechtliche Rahmenwerk um notwendige Erweiterungen für das Internetzeitalter untersucht. Die Unterzeichnung findet im Beisein des Baden-Württembergischen Ministerpräsidenten Stefan Mappus statt. Seitens der Universität nehmen der Rektor der Universität Freiburg Prof. Dr. Hans-Jochen Schiewer, das Direktoriumsmitglied des Centre for Security and Society Prof. Dr. Bernd Becker sowie dessen Geschäftsführer Dr. Sebastian Höhn teil. Seitens der IBM unterschreiben Martin Jetter, Vorsitzender der Geschäftsleitung der IBM Deutschland GmbH, und Dr. Sven Löschenkohl, Vice President IBM Public, das Abkommen.
