IDC bescheinigt ISS gute Marktchancen
Die Akquisition katapultiert ISS auf einen Schlag in die erste Reihe eines expandierenden Marktes. Nach Schätzungen von IDC (International Data Corporation) wird der weltweite Bedarf für Content Security bis 2006 auf 1,5 Milliarden US-Dollar steigen. Damit handelt es sich um den am schnellsten wachsenden Sektor des Gesamtmarktes für IT-Sicherheit. Im Jahr 2003 haben Unternehmen laut Radicati Group insgesamt rund 20,5 Milliarden US-Dollar durch Spam verloren. "Die Übernahme von Cobion durch ISS ist auf einer Linie mit unserer Empfehlung an Hersteller, Security-Technologien weiter in Richtung einer Gesamtlösung zu entwickeln oder zu integrieren", so IDC-Analyst Brian Burke.
Im zweiten Quartal 2004 möchte ISS sowohl Anti-Spam als auch Content-Filtering in seine Multifunction-Appliance Proventia M integriert haben. Diesen Schritt hatte das Unternehmen bereits im Oktober 2003 angekündigt. Proventia M wird dann neben Firewall, Anti-Virus, Intrusion Prevention und VPN (Virtual Private Network) auch Content Security in nur einem Gerät bieten. Ebenfalls im zweiten Quartal soll es unter dem Namen Proventia C auch eine eigenständige Appliance nur für Content Security geben.
Ingo Bock, bei der T-Systems verantwortlich für Information Technology, beurteilt die Akquisition aus Kundensicht: "Unternehmen verlangen von uns Schutz gegen das gesamte Gefahrenspektrum, einschließlich Spam, Viren, Würmer und Hacker-Angriffe. Durch die Übernahme von Cobion durch ISS sind unsere Kunden nun in der Lage, auf Best-of-Breed-Lösungen aus einer Hand zurückzugreifen."

Auch Jörg Lamprecht, CEO von Cobion, sieht die Übernahme als Chance: "Das ist exakt der richtige Schritt für Cobion und eine Gelegenheit, mit unserer Technologie einen großen Markt zu erreichen.
