„Das Kurfürstenkarree wird seit über 100 Jahren gewerblich genutzt und so sollte es auch bleiben“, sagt IHK-Präsident Stefan Hagen. Auf dem Areal gibt es bereits mehr als 15 Firmen mit 300 Beschäftigten. Wenn den dort gewachsenen Firmen jetzt Erweiterungsmöglichkeiten durch vorgeschriebenen Wohnungsbau genommen werden, kann die ganze Entwicklung behindert werden. Dann fallen wegen anderer Standortentscheidungen Arbeitsplätze und auch die dringend benötigten Gewerbesteuereinnahmen mittelfristig weg. Bereits jetzt sind investitionsbereite Unternehmer und Arbeitnehmer verunsichert. „Wie kann es sein, dass die seit 25 Jahren praktizierte und genehmigte gewerbliche Nutzung auf dem Kurfürstengelände vom Stadtrat einfach so geändert werden kann und den dort ansässigen Unternehmen die Existenzgrundlage entzogen wird“, sagt IHK-Hauptgeschäftsführer Dr. Hubertus Hille. Planungssicherheit und Schutz von Eigentum sind wichtige Voraussetzungen für die Wirtschaft einer Region, ohne die Betriebe abwandern und Investoren abgeschreckt werden. Die von Teilen der Politik gewollte Entwicklung am Kurfürstenkarree könnte daher eine verheerende Symbolwirkung für den Wirtschaftsstandort Bonn haben. Wenn es tatsächlich zu erzwungenem Wohnungsbau auf dem Gelände kommt, müssen Gewerbebetriebe verlagert werden. Das löst dann wieder weitere Verkehre von Menschen aus, die ihre Arbeitsplätze außerhalb der Stadt erreichen müssen. Nachhaltig wäre das nicht.
