"Die jüngste Industriestatistik bestätigt unsere Einschätzung, dass die Saarwirtschaft in diesem Jahr gut mit der Entwicklung im Bund Schritt halten kann. Die positive Entwicklung in den Kernbereichen unserer Industrie - Fahrzeugbau, Stahl, Maschinenbau - gleicht die Bremswirkungen, die vom Bergbau ausgehen, mehr als aus. Das wird auch in den kommenden Monaten so bleiben." Mit diesen Worten kommentierte IHK-Hauptgeschäftsführer Volker Giersch die heute (6. Juni 2008) vom Statistischen Landesamt veröffentlichten Daten zur Industrieentwicklung im ersten Quartal 2008.
