"Die Begrenzung der Bundesförderung auf 64 Millionen Euro ist aus unserer Sicht kein hinreichender Grund, das Projekt "Stadtmitte am Fluss" jetzt zu stoppen. Trotz der schwierigen Finanzlage sind Standort prägende öffentliche Leitinvestitionen hier im Land weiterhin dringend nötig, um den Wirtschaftsstandort Saarland attraktiv zu halten. Die Finanzierbarkeit solcher Investitionen muss dadurch sichergestellt werden, dass Landeshauptstadt und Land in den konsumtiven Bereichen ihrer Haushalte künftig noch energischer sparen als bisher."
