Vorsicht bei der Werbung mit "Olympia"

Am 5. August beginnen die Olympischen Sommerspiele in Rio de Janeiro. Will ein Unternehmen damit werben, muss es einige Spielregeln beachten. So weist die IHK Saarland darauf hin, dass die Olympischen Ringe geschützt sind, ebenso alle Bezeichnungen, in denen die Worte „Olympiade“, „Olympia“, „Olympisch“ allein oder in Zusammensetzung (z. B. „Olympische Spiele“) enthalten sind. Formulierungen, die lediglich einen zeitlichen Bezug zu den Olympischen Spielen herstellen, ohne bestimmte Güte- oder Qualitätsvorstellung auf bestimmte Produkte oder Dienstleistungen zu übertragen, sind nach einem Urteil des BGH jedoch zulässig – das gilt etwa für Formulierungen  wie „Olympische Preise“ oder „Olympia-Rabatt“.

Die IHK rät allen Unternehmen, bei der Verwendung von olympischen Begriffen in der Werbung Vorsicht walten zu lassen und sich gut zu informieren, etwa auf der Website des Deutschen Olympischen Komitees:
