Was folgt aus dem Zukunftsbild 2020? Eine regionalpolitische Strategie für die Großregion

Während der saarländischen Präsidentschaft des Gipfels der Großregion 2002/2003 entstand das „Zukunftsbild 2020“. Darin wurde ein Fahrplan für die weitere Integration des ehemaligen „SaarLorLuxRaumes“ vorgeschlagen. Was ist daraus geworden? Ist die Großregion nur ein Papiertiger oder gibt es echte Fortschritte? Die Intensivierung von Grenzkontrollen im Gefolge von Terroranschlägen hat gerade im Kernland der EU gezeigt, wie sehr der Freiverkehr von Gütern, Dienstleistungen und Arbeitskräften über die Grenze hinweg zur Selbstverständlichkeit geworden ist. Was muss geschehen, damit die Vorteile entfallener Grenzen noch deutlicher werden? Haben alle Teilregionen von fortschreitender Integration profitiert?

Diese und weitere Fragen bilden den Kern der gemeinsamen Veranstaltung der IHK Saarland und des Instituts der Großregion (IGR), Arlon. Es diskutieren langjährige Akteure der Großregion: Roger Cayzelle, Präsident des IGR, Dr. Hanspeter Georgi, Minister a.D. und Vizepräsident, Prof. Peter Moll und Jean Schuler, beide Mitglieder des IGR-Verwaltungsrats.
