Bis zum 10. April 2022 können sich Entwickler, Forscher, Designer, Erfinder und Hersteller um den Innovations- und Nachhaltigkeitspreis Feuerverzinken 2022 bewerben. Der vom Industrieverband Feuerverzinken vergebene Award zeichnet innovative Produkte und Objekte aus, die ganz, überwiegend oder hinsichtlich wichtiger Details aus feuerverzinktem Stahl bestehen und verbesserte oder neue Anwendungen für das Feuerverzinken (Stückverzinken) eröffnen und/oder einen Beitrag zur Nachhaltigkeit, insbesondere zum Klimaschutz und zur Schonung von knappen Ressourcen leisten. Alternativ können auch Forschungs- und Entwicklungsleistungen sowie Verarbeitungsverfahren ausgezeichnet werden, die innovativ und/oder nachhaltig sind.

Der Industrieverband Feuerverzinken e.V. und seine Serviceorganisation, die Institut Feuerverzinken GmbH, vertreten die deutsche Stückverzinkungsindustrie. Im Jahr 2020 wurden in Deutschland mehr als 2 Mio. Tonnen Stahl stückverzinkt. Wichtige Anwendungsbereiche des Korrosionsschutzes durch Feuerverzinken sind u. a. Architektur und Bauwesen sowie die Verkehrstechnik und der Fahrzeugbau. Zunehmend wird das Feuerverzinken auch aufgrund seiner Brandschutzeigenschaften eingesetzt.
