Auf eine Java-Entwicklungsumgebung wie XDEV 2 haben viele Datenbank-Entwickler schon lange gewartet. Denn während sich bisher kaum eine ernsthafte Java-Anwendung ohne erheblichen Programmieraufwand realisieren ließ, werden mit XDEV 2 Datenbank-Anwendungen für Java-Plattformen rein grafisch per Drag & Drop entwickelt, ohne dafür überhaupt Java-Kenntnisse zu benötigen. XDEV 2 ist eine Rapid Application Development Lösung zur rein grafischen Entwicklung von Java Rich-GUI-Clients und Java Webinterfaces, von individuellen Reporting-Lösungen sowie zur kostengünstigen und sicheren Migration bestehender Anwendungen auf Java-Plattformen. Die bisher gewohnten Entwicklungszeiten reduzieren sich mit XDEV 2 erheblich, so dass sich der Einsatz von XDEV 2 vor allem bei zeitkritischen Softwareentwicklungsprojekten auszahlt.
Seine Stärken spielt XDEV 2 vor allem im Zusammenspiel mit der postrelationalen Datenbank Caché von InterSystems aus. Auf dem Messestand von InterSystems zeigt Cutex deshalb auch, wie sich mit XDEV jede nur denkbare Datenbank-Anwendung auf der Basis von Caché zügig und kostengünstig entwickeln lässt. Dank der Anfang des Jahres neu geschlossenen Partnerschaft beider Unternehmen kann Cutex bei der Auslieferung von XDEV 2 seinen Kunden die Datenbank gleich mitliefern. „Wir haben Caché ausgewählt, weil unser Markt hohe Anforderungen an Leistung und Skalierbarkeit stellt, dabei aber keine allzu großen Betriebsressourcen zur Verfügung stellen kann“, erläutert Markus Stiegler, Leiter Vertrieb und Marketing bei Cutex Systems die Hintergründe. „Dass InterSystems zudem eine hervorragende Partnerbetreuung bietet und uns neue Märkte öffnet, hat uns in dieser Entscheidung nur weiter bestärkt. Für die Zukunft planen wir die gemeinsame Entwicklung einer nativen, objektorientierten Datenbankschnittstelle für XDEV 2. Auf diese Weise profitieren InterSystems-Kunden dann noch stärker von der Zusammenarbeit.“
