Ionbond has a strong track record as a supplier to Airbus and its subcontractors for many years through its coating centers in France (Lyon and Toulouse) the UK (Consett) and more recently from its center in Greensboro, USA.
Ionbond coatings are used widely within the aerospace industry in order to reduce wear, abrasion, galling and fretting. Typical parts include landing gear, flight control actuation, bearings and fasteners. Moreover, PVD coatings are increasingly used as an environmentally safe alternative to hard chromium plating and replacement for thicker coating technologies such as plasma spray.
Chris Constable, MD of Ionbond UK Ltd said: “This approval strengthens our aerospace coating offering and is a natural extension to the coating services that we already offer to Airbus and aerospace manufacturers, helping them to improve component performance and meet supply chain deadlines.”
Ionbond UK Ltd offers coating services from two coating facilities in the UK (Consett and Mansfield) serving customers in the aerospace, decorative, medical and cutting and forming tool industries. Additional coating equipment capacity has been added to both centres in 2017 in order to meet increasing demand from all segments.
