iPass has been brought on board to help mobilise several hundred Finpro staff around the world who will all benefit from iPass' high level of usability and expansive global Wi-Fi® network. This now includes almost 140,000 Wi-Fi hotspots, including nearly 60,000 in Europe alone, as well as expansive 3G Mobile Broadband coverage, Ethernet and dial-up.
iPass Mobile Office is an award-winning service that unifies mobility management over any Internet connection. It works to optimise mobile access, centrally manage mobile connections, and control the end-user organisation's mobility expenses. FinPro users will connect via the iPassConnect(TM) mobility manager, enabling a simple and consistent user experience over all Internet connections, multiple access technologies and various device platforms, both laptops but also handhelds. Being avid smartphone users, the Finpro staff will also benefit from the wide range of mobile device support including Nokia S60, BlackBerry® smartphones, Windows Mobile 6, iPhone and iPod touch models.
Finpro are currently using their 3G phones heavily, even when abroad, which has resulted in runaway costs. The main appeal of the iPass solution was that it could help the company to reduce these costs. Ease-of-use was another critical factor -- iPassConnect provides the same user experience regardless of location or network access type and irrespective of whether the connection is established from a laptop or handheld.
"Finpro came to us with a very clear need to take back control of the spiraling data roaming costs that were impacting the company financially. A mobility solution that could enable them
to more efficiently manage the workforce and cap expenses was essential," said René Hendrikse, Vice President EMEA, iPass.
"The financial repercussions of unmanaged data roaming charges forced us to review our mobility strategy, and iPass was always a clear front runner. We were impressed not only by the Mobile Office service, but also by its global reputation as the best in the mobility management field," said Jarmo Jonninen, IT Manager at Finpro. "iPass has not only ensured that our staff can stay connected and productive when they travel worldwide, but it has also relieved the pressure on our mobility budgets by controlling connectivity and roaming costs."
The iPass deployment was initiated this summer and will be made available to the global Finpro workforce.
