Experiences with British wind farms have shown that cable installation technology must be improved to ensure that wind parks run continuously and yield satisfying results. In near future, offshore wind parks will be installed in the North Sea as well as the Baltic Sea, demanding a safer cable installation technology than in the past.
Highlight speakers at the conference include for example Jan Matthiesen, Offshore Renewable Technology Acceleration Manager at The Carbon Trust, UK and Thorsten Schwarz, Managing Director at Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke GmbH, Germany, presenting their findings and experience in successful cable installation techniques.
Following key topics will be presented and discussed:
• Strategic issues in offshore cabling and regulatory framework conditions
• Best practices for approaching insurers and assessing offshore cabling risk
• Reliable cable technology and cost-efficient cable installation
• Innovative strategies for cable installation, such as Jetting
Conference participants can attend the interactive Workshop Day on Wednesday, 28 March 2012 to discuss following topics:
• Power cable connections: Power cable planning & installation aspects related to the pan-European transmission requirements
• Cable installation and protection
