Michael Lamach wurde im Februar 2004 zum Senior Vice President von Ingersoll Rand gewählt und zum President des Bereiches Sicherheit (Security and Safety) (heute Bereich Sicherheitstechnologien) von Ingersoll Rand ernannt. Bevor er zu Ingersoll Rand kam, war Lamach Vice President der Gruppe und Managing Director für die Geschäfte der Johnson Controls’ Automotive Gruppe in Europa, Asien, Südafrika und Südamerika. Davor war er als Vice President und General Manager für die Controls Gruppe tätig und leitete das integrierte Facility Management-Geschäft des Unternehmens. Während seiner 17-jährigen Tätigkeit bei Johnson Controls hatte Lamach auch Positionen im Verkaufsmanagement, Marketing und in der Entwicklung neuer Produkte inne. Lamach hat einen Bachelor-Grad in Ingenieurwesen der Michigan State University und einen Magister in Betriebswirtschaftslehre der Duke University.
