Sky-BI simulates prospective traffic using seasonal schedules (summer / winter) and forecasts the passenger throughput. Aviation charges can be calculated from the traffic data. The entire planning process is capable of supporting multiple scenarios such as best case, worst case, a new airline entering the market, new routes, routes performing well or poor, different charges, etc. Thus Sky-BI provides well-grounded answers on „what-if“ queries for decision-making.
Nuremberg Airport expects Sky-BI to provide a shared database for statistics, plans and forecasts. Sky-BI is going to speed up the planning processes significantly such enabling multiple business scenarios to be evaluated in a dependable way. The airport turned again to ISO because of ISO’s standardised product offering based on SAP Business Intelligence technology (SAP BW). At Nuremberg Airport SAP BW will be coupled with a non-SAP flight database (Sky-Base). Sky-Base provides seasonal schedules, daily schedules and billing data.
The project has been started a couple of weeks ago and is intended top be completed during the 3rd quarter 2008. The total schedule is 3 months.
With an annual passenger throughput of 4.2 million and more than 100 000 tons of cargo Nuremberg Airport ranks among the top 10 of Germany's busiest airports. Due to Air Berlin's hub operations Nuremberg Airport is Germany's third biggest transfer airport.
