ISO is going to introduce its modular tour operator system Pacific at the worldwide most important fair of the tourism industry. The special feature of this system is its modernity and its functional richness. The system is completely web based and provides all functions of a tour operator’s need. It consists of numerous tourism software services which cover all requirements of a tour operator. Each of the services performs a special task, for instance, master data administration or business partner administration. The combination of all these services makes up a complete, powerful and state-of-the-art system.
Technical and functional highlights of Pacific
A multi GDS engine provides a flexible connection to external flight, rental car and hotel systems. An Internet Booking Engine (IBE) is adaptable and all prevalent sales channels and offline distribution channels can be connected. Pacific is completely based on Java components. It is also fully web based and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). Open source frameworks guarantee absolute independence.
Emerald – the CRM for tourism
Emerald is a modern CRM System (Customer Relationship Management) which was particularly developed for tourism. It supports the entire process of the tourism value chain, starting with the first travel advice up to the post-processing after the end of a journey. The latest version uses state-of-the-art technologies and provides a high degree of flexibility. Emerald is constructed modularly and contains components like campaign management, business partner administration, complaint management, catalogue and user administration.
ISO Dynamic Travel Components (DTC) – a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
ISO Travel Solutions provides a “software construction kit” with numerous services according to ISO’s development strategy of Dynamic Travel Components (DTC). The advantage of this Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is that the components are both separately and as an integrated complete solution available for tourism companies.
Emerald is, like Pacific, based on the ISO Dynamic Travel Components (DTC) strategy. Both of these systems can simply be extended by other components. Various interfaces, like online/offline XML data-import, EJB interfaces or WebServices, allow a smooth data exchange between the systems.
SaaS mode
The DTC strategy furthermore allows a SaaS (Software as a Service) mode for Pacific and Emerald. ISO, being the general service provider, takes the entire responsibility for the IT infrastructure of its customers. With this alternative, the Nuremberg tourism IT service provider mainly addresses small and medium-size tourism companies because costs are exactly calculated based on system usage. Thus, the tour operator’s entire manpower can focus on sales and processing, no resources have to be assigned to the IT administration.
Mobility in the tourism IT with iTinerary and iPad
ISO’s systems are able to provide information about booked services on the travellers’ mobile phone, including iPhones. The traveller only needs ISO’s application “iTinerary” on their iPhone. The application connects to the reservation system and downloads all details of the booked journey and its procedure. Thus, the travellers are always informed about all details of their booked services via their smart phone. For instance, they can open Google Map directly from their booked hotel services. This map shows the location of their hotel to make them find their way back there. Furthermore, all details of their transfers are displayed to the travellers so that they can be reminded of their pick up time by their iPhone on time.
iTinerary, as well as iEmerald, are also ready for the iPad. iEmerald allows mobile access to Emerald, ISO’s CRM system for tourism.
