A new housing concept from Jenoptik's Traffic Solutions division convinced the "iF design awards" judging panel. TraffiTower 2.0 was awarded with an "iF product design award" in the product category "public design". With TraffiTower 2.0, Jenoptik is providing a new generation of outdoor housing for stationary traffic monitoring. Its predecessor, the TraffiTower, was recognized for design and functionality with the international Red Dot Design Award in 2006.
Two complete measuring systems in one tower
TraffiTower 2.0 combines design and high functionality for traffic monitoring using laser or radar. Two completely independently functioning measuring systems can be built into the designed housing. This makes it possible to flexibly monitor speed or red lights simultaneously across up to six lanes and in different directions.
The tower is composed of up to seven modules that can be aligned and set up independently on top of one another. The housing is robust and protected against vandalism, the individual components are attached in a sabotage-proof manner. TraffiTower 2.0 can be used under various climatic conditions. A weatherproof build as well as optional additional components such as air conditioning or heating guarantee flawless operation.
Jenoptik has already put the TraffiTower 2.0 to use in Qatar. In November 2013, Jenoptik was commissioned by the Qatar Ministry of the Interior to deliver 60 stationary units in the newly designed housing in order to increase traffic safety in the country.
International Design Award
The "iF design awards" are one of the largest and most important international design competitions. For more than six decades, the awards have recognized outstanding design achievements in three categories. A total of 4,615 products, communicative devices, and packaging from 55 countries were nominated for the 2014 awards.
