The basis for the even closer collaboration in the future was provided by the successful business relationships which Carl Zeiss SMT and Jenoptik have now maintained for approximately three years. The new contract which has been concluded makes Jenoptik one of the preferred suppliers from October this year. The range of products supplied covers optical and micro-optic components and systems which Jenoptik develops and manufactures at its Jena site. The agreement equally forms the basis for an expansion of the business relationships. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the extent of the business volume.
Carl Zeiss SMT attaches very special importance to Jenoptik as a German supplier that possesses a high level of technological know-how in the area of optics: "The affinity between us, not only in geographic terms but also with our highly innovative products, creates the optimum conditions required to enable both companies to derive benefits from this relationship" explains Peter Schlindwein, Head of Supply Chain Management at Carl Zeiss SMT. For Jenoptik the agreement is further evidence of the confidence shown in the company and represents an important step towards a long term business relationship. "With the close collaboration the two companies demonstrate their outstanding technological expertise, which is founded on common roots and a long history of tradition. As a top class supplier we are determined to make our contribution towards the continued growth of Carl Zeiss SMT" stated Dr. Dirk Michael Rothweiler, Head of Jenoptik's Optical Systems division.
