LACP Link Aggregation Helps to Increase Bandwidth in Wireless Application

Wireless has become important devices to extend the wired network where the cable is difficult to reach, particularly the outdoor environment. Most of the outdoor wireless AP offer bridge mode for point to point or point to multipoint connection, in such cases, an industrial switch that can offer LACP link aggregation function would help those outdoor wireless AP to have higher bandwidth in between. Another practical example is that the latest wireless AP is having the speed of 300Mbps (802.11n), then a 10/100TX switch is not able to handle 300M or 240M speed, the LACP link aggregation function could help to handle those high speed radio by trunking ports together.

Up to now, most of industrial switches in the market are not able to provide LACP link aggregation function but only the failover which will only activate the trunked path when the primary is failed, so the current solution is to find expensive switches from Cisco, Extreme or HP business grade switch to be used in outdoor environment which has risk of higher failure rate over time. Lantech now has developed LACP link aggregation function for our new 3xxx / 5xxx series industrial switches which could deliver bandwidth increase advantage for many wireless applications.
