Using physical vapor deposition (PVD), various fiber types - but primarily large-core fibers - are coated with high damage thresholds. This minimizes back reflections, which is extremely important, in particular when transmitting high power levels. Depending on the type of coating, reflection values between 0.2% and 0.5% can be achieved.
Due to the in-house core competencies, LASER COMPONENTS is able to coat both patchcords with standardized connector solutions and customer-specific ferrules. Bare fiber tips without a connector are also part of our repertoire.
The following is a list of examples of the most common AR coatings:
- Single AR: Coating for a single wavelength (e.g., 808 nm)
- Dual AR: Coating for two wavelengths (e.g., 808 nm and 980 nm)
- Broadband AR: Coating for a wide wavelength range (e.g., 460 nm to 700 nm)
