"I am excited that we could win Uwe Schallenberg who is an expert in this field with many years of experience."
Thin-film technology has been his passion for more than 35 years. After receiving his diploma in physics from the University of Jena he specialized in optical thin-films - a focus he has kept until today. "Not to cling to the old but to give new things a chance" is how he describes his formula for success. The science remains the same but the everevolving technology heralds novel products.
Most recently Mr. Schallenberg worked as a consulting engineer. His opinion is in great demand when it comes to feasibility studies for new designs or evaluations of optical and technical requirements. Researching the current state-of-the-art technology is part of the daily job when manufacturing new products. The step from a consultant to head of production was an easy one for him. "It is not every day that you are offered such an opportunity. I wanted to go back to people, having a team around all day" explains Schallenberg. Passing on his knowledge is important to him. He cannot wait to implement all the ideas he has in his head.
