In the coming years billions of slides and images have to be digitized for preserving the included memories. Since analog image originals are always at risk of loss and damage, this high-quality digital archive should be built in a short time. Therefore, a combination of hardware and software is required which meets the highest requirements by solving its tasks optimally to the factors of time and quality. The SilverFast Archive Suite 8 is established as software solution for this task. It perfectly teams up with the scanners from all major manufacturers and it covers all steps of an archiving workflow from scanning to image processing.
During the scanning phase, it is crucial for a high-quality digital archive, the scanner captures as much information as possible. LSI‘s patented SilverFast Multi-Exposure® manages to double the Dynamic Range of many scanners. Thus, no image details get lost. Contrary as often assumed, the Dynamic Range plays a greater role for the quality of a scan than its resolution.
Using iSRD®, SilverFast‘s automatic dust and scratch removal, additional data from the scanner‘s infrared channel is directly written into the RAW data formats DNG (or HDRI). According to the "non-destructive" approach, after completing the scanning process, the user has an optimal digital image of its analog originals, which he can access for processing again and again. Storing scans in DNG format, which is established as a standard RAW format, holds even more possibilities for the user in respect of a subsequent image processing.
Using the new VLT, organizing the digitized images is efficient and easy as well. Rating, arranging, selecting, categorizing – this tool simplifies the workflow enormously. For an efficient image optimization, image adjustments can be copied from one to all selected images using the JobManager. SilverFast processes all optimization jobs in batch mode.
For the new Archive Suite 8 launch, LaserSoft Imaging grants an introductory discount of 20% on all full versions and upgrades until end of June 2014.
