New Color Calibration Targets from LaserSoft Imaging

LaserSoft Imaging develops new targets for color calibration in part-2-design according to the ISO Norm 12641 revision as determined by the ISO-Committee

(PresseBox) (Kiel, Germany, )
Like people, every scanner interprets color in its own way. This is where the IT8-Calibration steps in. It compiles a color profile for a scanner, which characterizes the color space and takes into account individual variations. This task is now performed more precise than ever and with maximum color fidelity thanks to the new Targets from LaserSoft Imaging.

Those of us who deal with colors on a daily basis understand the importance of high color-accuracy. In the color business, you have to be able to trust that the colors you see are accurate. To date, the graphic industry has relied on the so-called IT8-Targets, which are developed according to the IT8-Standard.

Around since 1993, the term IT8 characterizes a collection color control standards. IT8-Targets act as a type of color scale and during IT8-Calibration they measure the color discrepancies of the respective scanner. Color discrepancies may occur as a result of age, the environment or even production. These discrepancies are subsequently balanced out with a Color Correction Profile.

The ISO-Panel is currently expanding the ISO 12641 Standard by a part 2 with modern target layouts. These new Targets produce an even more precise color profile. They contain almost three times more measuring fields and can thus cover an even larger color space with measured data. Additional color footholds in the dark and pastel tones increase the accuracy of the new targets.

As a candidate for the expansion of the ISO 12641 Standard, LaserSoft Imaging has already begun production of these part-II-design targets. As to be expected from LaserSoft Imaging Targets, the process is fully automatic and can be handled by everyone due to the patented automatic calibration.

The new Targets are available for purchase at a special launch price (until March 31, 2018) on the SilverFast website.
