LUM GmbH, Berlin, a producer of analytical instruments, provides tailored and easy tools for the direct and accelerated stability determination and particle characterization of dispersions. Users of the Dispersion Analyser LUMiSizer® reported during ECIS about rheological properties and sedimentation behaviour of calcium carbonate and china clay dispersions, which are applied for coatings in paper industry. Other researchers characterize with this instrument Pickering-emulsions and their stability, as model systems for sludge in the oil recovery industry. The determination of the equations of state of concentrated magnetite-nanoparticle dispersions, by using analytical centrifugation in the Stability Analyser LUMiFuge®, was presented by further scientists.
LUM itself submitted 4 contributions to the scientific programme, and especially focussed on the characterization of magnetic nanoparticles as well as of magnetic nanodispersions, an application area becoming more and more important in medicine as well as in chemical engineering.
Numerous talks during the accompanying device exhibition confirm the big interest in the new generation of the LUMiSizer® and the new Multi-wavelength Separation Analyser LUMiReader PSA®.
