Next generation materials information system now available

From materials testing to use in CAE and ERP

(PresseBox) (Wuppertal, )
Data and knowledge about materials are increasingly important in the entire product life cycle. Design engineers need consistent material parameters for their various CAE and PLM systems.          Not only for this purpose it is necessary to consolidate and evaluated data from different sources, like material tests, certificates and reference databases. Matplus EDA® is the next generation materials information system – the highly flexible and user-friendly solution can easily be integrated into system- and cloud-environments.

Matplus EDA® facilitates the creation of an enterprise-wide master data management for materials. As an example the so-called material cards from well-known CAD systems such as Siemens NX, PTC Creo, Solidworks, Solidedge and Catia can be read natively into EDA® and be harmonized there.  The resulting master material data can then be released back to the target systems. Material models for different FEA systems, like Abaqus, Ansys WB, PamCrash, LS-Dyna, Hypermesh can also be addressed this way.

The concept of a central and consistent single source of material information in an organization is also supported by reference databases available from Matplus. Databases for steels, aluminium, copper alloys and plastics are maintained in cooperation with leading associations and Matplus domain experts. Custom databases, which are tailored to specific requirements of organizations can be implemented.

A unique capability of Matplus EDA® is the integrated processing of data from materials testing. The entire process beginning from raw data from test machines to data analyses and material modelling for CAE is performed within the system. High scalability enables efficient storage of all curves and raw data, e.g. as required by Nadcap in the aerospace sector. "Materials expert users like the unlimited extensibility of EDA® even for demanding use cases", explains Dr. Uwe Diekmann, Managing Director of Matplus and add: "We are proud to offer a sustainable and scalable solution which is based on open technology like Python, JSON and REST”.
