Trade fair keynotes put the focus on series production

(PresseBox) (Erfurt, )
From prototyping to series production, the industrial use of Additive Manufacturing (AM) or 3D Printing is increasing rapidly. This impressive growth will be the focus of the three keynotes at the Rapid.Tech Specialist Conference 2016. Senior managers from Stratasys, Siemens and Volkswagen are scheduled to deliver high-octane speeches that will provide unique insights into current applications and future concepts.

At the opening of the trade fair on 14 June 2016, Dipl.-Ing. Helmut Zeyn from Siemens Industry Software GmbH will outline the challenges facing Additive Manufacturing processes in the production of series parts. Zeyn will also present innovative developments that enable manufacturers seeking to integrate AM processes into existing production lines to meet the requirements of modern series production for process reliability, process monitoring, traceability and data exchange.

Day 2 (15 June 2016) will open with a keynote by Wolfgang Kochan, General Manager D-A-CH Region, Stratasys GmbH. His talk "Industry 4.0 and Additive Manufacturing – A Look into the Future" asks the questions that will be crucial in years to come: to what extent is Additive Manufacturing already an integral part both of product development cycles and in the wider context of Industry 4.0? How will companies use 3D Printing technology in the future to optimise processes, reduce time to market and achieve cost savings?

Messe Erfurt has secured the services of Dr Steffen Landua, Director of Technology Development, Toolmaking and Press Shop at Volkswagen AG, for the keynote address on the third day of the trade fair (16 June 2016). His talk will cover the opportunities offered by metal 3D Printing in the manufacture of equipment and series components in the automotive industry and the resulting benefits for manufacturers. In addition, Landua will illustrate the requirements placed on Additive Manufacturing by the automotive production sector with respect to criteria such as productivity, material selection and installation spaces, as well as discussing the readiness of 3D Printing technology for series production.

160 exhibitors, over 4,000 trade visitors and more than 700 conference participants from Europe and around the globe are expected in Erfurt from 14 to 16 June 2016. The organisers and Advisory Board have put together a programme of over 80 lectures, including expert talks for the new trade forums "Additive Contract Manufacturing", "3D Metal Printing", "Automotive Industry" and "Electronic Engineering". As in previous years, the "Science", "Tools", "Aviation", "Medical Technology", "Dental Technology" and "Design" trade forums and the Users’ Conference will provide excellent opportunities for sector experts to exchange information and present new applications and products.
