Smaller and less complex installations such as digital menu boards in canteens and snack bars or digital shop window advertising can highly benefit from the new Android player app: Android systems are quite inexpensive and require little maintenance. In particular, screens with an already integrated Android TV box provide real added value, since no additional media player hardware is required to run FrontFace.
FrontFace for Android supports Android 8 (“Oreo”) to Android 10. Older versions are supported on request. The new FrontFace Player App can run on the devices with the regular Android from Google (e.g. on tablets), Android TV and AOSP (Android Open Source Project, a flavor that is mainly used on professional devices).
With FrontFace, impressive screen presentations using a wide variety of content types can be created very easily and conveniently. In addition to images, videos, news tickers, weather, and websites (HTML5-based), PDF documents, formatted text and also slide shows can be integrated. The unique Print2Screen feature of FrontFace even integrates content from any Windows application that supports printing such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.
As with the Windows version of FrontFace, the content is created, managed, and scheduled using the convenient FrontFace Assistant application, which can be installed on any conventional PC.
The Android devices can then be updated either completely offline using a USB stick, online within the local network (via a NAS), or via the Internet using a cloud storage service (such as DropBox).
A license (required for each Android device) costs $ 349.95 and entitles you to permanent use (no SaaS!) of the software. The lower price compared to the Windows version ($ 599.95) is justified by the somewhat reduced range of functions: For example, there is no support of interactive functions (for touchscreens) in the Android version. These kiosk functions are available exclusively on the Windows version of FrontFace.
