About 50 participants followed RDM’s invitation. RDM is MOCON’s representative in Great Britain.
Presentations were hold by experts like Andreas Roos (Head of Sales & Service Permeation Testing Systems, MOCON GmbH or Dr. Esra Kucukpinar, Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging (IVV). She shared her experience in applying permeation data for understanding product shelf life.
James Shipman, Camvac, presented an interesting lecture about the latest methods of producing metalised films and ultra-high barrier films for products such as OLED or solar and similar demanding applications.
Tony Duffy, CAFRA, shared his knowledge of permeability issues for the food industry. A review of the main gases and benefits of each used in modified atmosphere packaging was followed by a review of the different methods of processing, and how shelf life can be extended for different products.
Subsequent discussions allowed the participants to exchange experiences with the speakers. It has been a perfect blend of information and interaction to introduce the delegates in the world of permeation.
Due to the positive feedback from the participants it is planned to repeat this learnshop in two years.
