Up to three external NMOS half bridge applications can be controlled with the IC, whereby each of the three half bridges of the E910.69 is controlled by a separate logic input.
The driver outputs for control of six external n-channel power transistors are provided by PWM signals up to 20 kHz. The external power transistors are protected against short circuit by adjustable thresholds and monitoring the drain-source voltage and protection against overcurrent by current measuring on external shunt resistors. The slew rate of the MOSFET can be adjusted by programming the gate drive currents. Via a serial interface (SPI), which also serves for supply voltage monitoring, the drivers can be parameterized and diagnostic data can be read out.
Control of the high-side transistors takes place with help of a bootstrap circuit. In case of low supply voltage, a charge pump provides a higher charging voltage for the external bootstrap capacitors and for driving the low-side transistors.
Due to the wide operating voltage range from 7 V to 60 V, the E910.69 can be used in 12 V, 24 V and 42 V vehicle power systems and in diverse 24 V industrial power grid. Typical fields of application are turbo chargers, control valves, battery powered drills/screwdrivers, common power tools, servo drives, high-efficiency fan drives, electric servo-assisted steering and automatic gearboxes.
