The MSC Q7-BW modules feature Intel’s Atom processor family made with the new power-saving 14nm process technology. As a result, the N3000 family provides dual-core and quad-core processors clocked at up to 2.4GHz yet consuming less than 6 Watts of power. What is more, the devices come with Intel’s new Gen 8 graphics engine which is equipped with up to 16 graphics execution units. This enables the N3000 processors to display images at a resolution of up to 4k (3840 x 2160) and to support triple independent displays as well as DirectX 11.1, OpenGL 4.2 and OpenCL 1.2. The H.265/HEVC hardware-accelerated video decoding allows streaming of 4k video in real-time. The Qseven modules’ graphics interfaces include a dual-channel LVDS port which optionally may be used for embedded DisplayPort 1.3, and a dual-mode DisplayPort interface capable of driving HDMI 1.4b, DVI and DisplayPort 1.2 displays.
The MSC Q7-BW modules offer almost the same feature set as the previous products, including Gigabit LAN, PCI Express, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, and as before there may be optional USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 device ports. But some notable features have improved such as the memory interface supporting DDR3L-1600, resulting in a faster memory access, and the higher-performance SATA-III interface. Even if the optional SSD Flash Disk is mounted on the module, one of the two SATA interfaces of the Qseven connector will still be usable on the carrier board.
The MSC Q7-BW module was designed to meet the latest Qseven Rev. 2.0 standard, and is available in the commercial temperature range. It features improved memory and computing performance as well as world-class graphics while reducing power consumption by more than 30% compared to the E3800-based “Bay Trail” products. With these features, the new module will be an ideal candidate for any application from medical computing and imaging, industrial automation and point-of-sales / point-of-information to digital signage and passenger information systems.
Samples of the new MSC Q7-BW Qseven module family based on Intel Pentium N3700 and the Celeron N3150 quad-core processors as well as the Celeron N3050 and N3000 dual-core processors will become available in the next few weeks.
