MSC Technologies, a business unit of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), has extended its portfolio with the Open Frame Tablet (OFT) series from Avalue. The energy-efficient, price-optimized product family offers four variants with panel sizes 25.65 cm (10.1"), 39.62 cm (15.6"), 53.34 cm (21.5") and 59.94 cm (23.6"). All installable OFTs are supplied with a compact flat screen with PCAP touch capability. Depending on the model, the maximum resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels. The monitor surface is protected with a 6H hard coating.
In the base version, the Open Frame Tablets have 2 GB main memory and an 8 GB or 32 GB eMMC. In addition to a 10/100 LAN Ethernet interface, the industrial computers also provide an integrated WLAN (802.11 b/g/n WiFi). A special feature is that the 25.65 cm (10.1") sized model can be supplied directly with Power over Ethernet (PoE 802.3AT). A 19 V D-input - optional 12 or 24 V - is available as power supply for all OFT products.
The control of the compact display systems is handled by a quad-core Intel® Atom™ Z3735F processor with integrated Intel® HD graphics clocked with max. 1.83 GHz and a 2 MB cache memory. The rated maximum Thermal Design Power (TDP) is specified with only 4.4 watts.
The OFT series interfaces include not only Ethernet, but also two USB 2.0 ports and an HDMI connection. A socket is provided for a Micro SD card. Serial, USB and GPIO interfaces are available internally.
Windows® 8.1 and 10, Android 4.4 and 5.1 as well as Ubuntu 14.04 are supported as operating systems.
