SparkLAN, a Taiwanese company founded in 2002, is a wireless networking solution provider specialized in WLAN products and focussing solutions for vertical markets like Medical, Industrial Automation andDigital Signage..
Now, SparkLAN has managed to implement the Qualcomm Atheros QCA9892-BR4B respectively QCA9890-BR4B Chipset in the Mini Express Card form factor to produce a module offering an operating temperature of -40 ~ 85 °C, fully meeting the requirements of industrial-grade applications. Most of the Mini-PCIe Modules available in the market are originally made for the consumer market focussing low cost, high volumes and not specifics like Industrial-grade. It is a huge benefit when it comes to using this kind of industrial grade mPCIe Wi-Fi modules in M2M applications regarding performance, reliability and longevity.
Both modules feature dual band WLAN and support the 802.11ac/a/b/g/n IEEE standards. Depending on the IEEE standard and user settings, the WPEQ-256ACNI and WPEQ-353ACNI therefore operate in the 2.4GHz and/or 5GHz frequency band. WLAN Channel widths up to 80MHz as well as 256 - Quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) are supported to maximize bandwidth efficiency, as defined in the 802.11 ac Standard. Together with the implemented MIMO 2T2R (2x2) antenna technology, respectively 3T3R (3x3) with the WPEQ-353ACNI, data rates up to 867Mbps or even 1.3Gbps are theoretically possible, therefore satisfying the demand of most applications for high data throughput. In 802.11ac (VHT80) mode, an output power of 10dBm ± 2dBm@MCS9 still will be emitted. Especially for demanding applications like video streaming or picture transfer it is important to support this throughput.
To ensure data security, the WPEQ-256ACNI and WPEQ-353ACNI support wireless security protocols like 64/128-bits WEP, WPA, WPA2, WAPI and WPS. Therefore setting up a secure environment in all applications is no problem. As of today, Linux drivers for both the WPEQ-256ACNI and the WPEQ-353ACNI mini PCIe WLAN modules are available.
Also, this widely supported form factor and interface makes the 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n modules very fast and easy to implement and reduces time to market significantly. Ideally made for Signage, Public transportation and Industrial Control solutions.
